Harvard College provides an abundance of opportunities to pursue this long standing challenge to serve others and change the world, both as undergraduates, and for many, following graduation. Service opportunities abound through campus organizations such as the Institute of Politics (IOP), Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA), and Public Service Network (PSN). These organizations, along with the Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC), and Office of Career Services (OCS), also provide a rich array of opportunities for you to pursue public interest careers during the summer and following graduation.
This website is intended to assist you with exploring public service opportunities at Harvard College. I hope you will click through the 'offices' tab so you can learn about the organizations and offices on campus and obtain further information by following the links to their websites.
To further assist you in knowing your options and finding your place in public service, more specific opportunities are summarized by category: term volunteer, winter-session, summer and post graduate. Furthermore, resources such as information on the intersection of coursework and co-curricular public service activities, and contacts in your houses are provided along with public service training opportunities, public service funding information and a calendar.
Finally, I hope you will consider signing up to receive the Service to Society Weekly, which includes the most important announcements each week from all of our public service organizations on campus, and following me on Twitter (@PSDeanGene).
If I can be of any assistance as you find your 'home' in public service at Harvard College, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
