The 2020 Faculty Chair for the Engaged Scholarship & Social Justice Undergraduate Research Conference is Professor Flavia Peréa
Dr. Peréa is the Director of the Mindich Program in Engaged Scholarship and a lecturer in the Social Studies Department at Harvard College. She is an applied social scientist with a multidisciplinary academic background and professional experience in social policy, public health, education, health and human services, and child/youth development.
Dr. Peréa holds a PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, a Master’s Degree in Education from Bank Street College of Education, and a Bachelor’s degree from New School for Social Research. She has held postdoctoral positions at Wellesley College with funding from the National Institutes of Health. Prior to entering the academy, Dr. Peréa was a PreK-8 classroom teacher and the Director of an early care and education program in a homeless shelter for women and children in the South Bronx.
