Inspired by our student volunteers, we are highlighting several ways for the Harvard community to remotely support critical community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most importantly, please follow all public health guidelines to protect yourself and others. More information and resources can be found on Harvard University’s Coronavirus webpage.
Many communities are still in critical need of assistance. In addition to signing up for Harvard Serves Everywhere, here are six ways you can stay engaged:
- Supporting your neighborhood mutual aid network (these networks use social media to collaboratively meet community needs)
- Donating blood through your local Red Cross chapter
- Seeking virtual volunteer opportunities through your local food bank, Meals on Wheels, or opportunities listed on VolunteerMatch (your local school district or senior center may also have virtual programming needs)
- Mentoring K-12 students virtually through CovEd or EduMate NYC, two matching platforms designed by students from Harvard in collaboration with other schools
- Reaching out to our staff advising team to connect with community partners and alums
- Voting and supporting voter engagement efforts through the Harvard Votes Challenge
