PBHA Summer Urban Program Senior Counselor Application Due
Date and Time
We are looking for dedicated undergraduates to serve as Senior Counselors in our Summer Urban Program (SUP). Each Senior Counselor works with groups of children ages 6-13 for seven weeks during the summer (RYSE works with high school students), implementing a self-designed curriculum. In the programs, Senior Counselors work with Junior Counselors, who are teenagers hired from the particular community in which the program is located. Senior Counselors are expected to keep in close contact with parents and community members as well as join the rest of the staff on a variety of retreats and trainings throughout the summer. Senior Counselors receive 2 weeks of training (June 8-June 19) and teach for 7 weeks of camp (June 22-August 7). All camps serve Boston and Cambridge neighborhoods, with most camps housed on Harvard's campus; counselors with our Mission Hill and Chinatown camps have an opportunity to live in or close to the communities they serve.
PBHA strongly believes that with respect for the communities and people we serve, perseverance in the face of challenges, and a deep belief in the potential of all kids, SUP Senior Counselors can have a tremendous impact on the lives of low-income youth in Cambridge and Boston. Apply now. Applications are due on 2/15 at 11:59.
