Rakesh Khurana, Dean of Harvard College, joined Gene Corbin, Assistant Dean of Harvard College for Public Service, and approximately 60 students who dedicated their summer to public service through programming offered by the Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC), Office of Career Services), Institute of Politics (IOP), Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA), and Public Service Network (PSN). Additionally, nearly 20 staff members from these offices and organizations were also in attendance in support of all their students.

The reception began at 3:30 pm on Friday, September 19th, in the Basement Theater of the Harvard Faculty Club. Dean Khurana addressed the group gathered together and commended them on all their incredible work in public service this summer. Afterward, students were divided into small groups where they reflected on their enriching summer experiences, all while enjoying delicious ice cream. During the reflection session, students were to explore how their commitment to public service this summer impacted their future career aspirations, understanding of social justice and sense of self. All students were enthusiastically engaged and open about sharing their stories.

Dean Corbin indicates, “We know that intensive summer service is incredibly impactful on both our students and the people they serve. We are so proud of these students for devoting their summers to service and want them to know how much we appreciate them. We hope more students will follow their inspiring example and we are working hard to expand summer service opportunities at Harvard College.”
