Barnett is a senior living in Dunster House pursuing a concentration in Sociology and a secondary in Studies of Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Barnett is passionate about empowering immigrant communities through political education and intentional community building. Barnett has taught ESL to Chinese immigrants in the greater Boston area with the Phillips Brooks House Association and has worked for the Chinese Progressive Association, a grassroots community-based organization in Boston’s Chinatown that seeks to improve the living and working conditions of Chinese immigrants. In these roles, Barnett has developed a deep appreciation for service and an understanding of the importance of building the leadership of community members to create change in their communities.
