Joel Crawford

Former First-Year Representative (2022-2023)
Joel Crawford is a first year student from Houston, Texas living in Crimson Yard intending to concentrate in government with a possible secondary in Environmental Science and Public Policy. In high school, he held numerous leadership positions including Student Body President and President of the Black Student Union. Outside of school, he spent a lot of time volunteering at local organizations in the Greater Houston area, most notably his church. He spent last summer volunteering at a reading lab, where he was able to learn more about education and the strong impact that COVID-19 had on the youth across America. As he desires to go to law school, he is passionate about finding ways to use the law to craft policy that will positively impact the lives of those in need. On campus, he is also involved in the Institute of Politics (IOP) where is a member of the Politics of Race and Ethnicity (PRE).
