SoEun (Sonya) Park
SoEun (Sonya) Park is a first-year in Canaday who plans to concentrate in Sociology and a secondary in Government. She was born in Busan, South Korea, but moved to Troy, Michigan when she was about ten years old. Interested in international relations and foreign policy, she would love to find herself in an endeavor where she can champion human rights in the future. As someone who has lived in three countries––South Korea, Brazil, and the United States––she is fascinated by how this debate plays out across and within different cultures and contexts. Furthermore, she loves to dance–especially ballet and contemporary––and is part of the Harvard Ballet Company. She is also the founder of Stairway For Ballet, a 501(c)3 organization that gives free online ballet classes to children, especially those who can’t afford them. Outside of ballet, she is part of Harvard Undergraduate Foreign Policy Initiative (HUFPI), Asian American Dance Troupe (AADT), Harvard Korean Association (HKA), etc. Sonya is eager to strategize community-building initiatives and help others into community-engaged commitments while building communities of public service.
