Graduate Assistant, Cross Departmental Initiatives

Tanaka Chikati is a multi-instrumentalist interested in advancing Arts Education on the African continent. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education Leadership, Organizations and Entrepreneurship, with a concentration in Arts Learning at HGSE. One day, she will be the founder of an Arts school that will support artists in her home country, Zimbabwe. Her dream is to uplift and empower African artists by helping them develop financial literacy skills. She is the Cross-Departmental Initiatives Graduate Assistant and will be working to support signature programs within the department, along with residential strategies. Tanaka was a double major in Music and African and African American Studies, with interests in feminism, leadership, environmental justice, and radical self-love and joy.
