Sasha Agarwal

First-Year Council (2021-2022)
Sasha Agarwal

Sasha is a passionate advocate of health equity, and her academic interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience, global health, and economics. She has been deeply engaged in serving the causes of menstrual equity, mental health parity, and disability advocacy on ground in her hometown and on international platforms.

She heads the Kolkata chapter of The Period Society, and has been leading groundwork throughout her city in India to bridge the access gap to sanitary products, educate marginalised menstrustors, and campaign for sustainability. She also co-founded Stimulus, a youth-led nonprofit aimed at raising awareness about the brain sciences, creating opportunities for high schoolers and young undergraduates, and supporting neurological treatment. She volunteers as a mental distress first responder for the Praan Foundation, spearheaded covid relief fundraisers, volunteered as a first responder for crisis cases in India, and campaigned with the United Nations for cross-departmental mental health support for adolescents. With Harvard SPARK this summer, she created and disseminated educational modules and toolkits for disability inclusion in schools across India.  She hopes to eventually work with health policy reformation with a focus on neurodegenerative disease and collaborative care modules.
